7 Alternate Markets To Consider When Spread Betting On Tennis
You have a wealth of spread betting options at your disposal if you want to dial up the excitement when watching Wimbledon this week. Many tennis fans stick to the most popular markets, which include Match Supremacy betting, the 100 Index, Total Games and the Tournament 60 Index. However, there are lots of alternative options to consider too. Read on to discover some of the more esoteric tennis spread betting available to anyone enjoying the action at SW19.
X-COURTS
This is a fun spread betting market that allows tennis fans to speculate on how many games each player will win. To calculate the result, we multiply the number of games Player A wins in each set by the number of games Player B wins. This market is available for an entire match or for a specific set. For example, if a player wins a set 6-4, the result will be 24, as 6 x 4 = 24. If a player wins a match 6-3, 6-4, 7-5, the result would be 77. The calculation would be (6x3) + (6x4) + (7x5), which is 18 + 24 + 35, which equals 77.
Before each match we will provide a quote for the X-Courts market, which is also known as Cross Courts. For example, it might be 62.5-67.5. If you expect each set to be relatively one-sided, you can sell at 62.5. If you think each set will be tight, buy at 67.5. Your profit or loss will be calculated by multiplying your bet amount by the difference between the result and the price you bought or sold at. For example, if you bought at 67.5 and the result was 77, you would earn 9.5x your stake. However, if the result was only 62, you would lose 5.5x your stake.
TOTAL POINTS PLAYED
The Total Points Played market is pretty straightforward. You simply need to guess how many points will be played throughout the entire match. This market is also available on individual sets. We will provide a quote on each match and set. As always, you sell at the lower end if you expect there to be fewer points played than our quote, or you buy at the upper end if you anticipate more points being played.
For example, we might predict 224-231 points played in a three-set match at Wimbledon. This market can lead to large differences between the quote and the result, so you might like to consider opting for a smaller stake on Total Points Played compared with Total Games. You will also find a Total Points Won quote on each player, throughout the entire match and on specific sets.
TOTAL GAMES WON
You can also bet on the number of games a particular player will win. Once again, this market is available for a full match or a set. We always offer a spread, allowing punters to buy if they feel we have been too conservative or sell if they feel we have been too ambitious.
For instance, we might predict that Carlos Alvaraz will win 20-21 games in a match. Sell at 20 if you think he will win in straight sets, without any tiebreakers, or buy at 21 if you think the match could go to four sets. If he wins 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, the result would be 18. If he wins 6-3, 4-6, 6-7, 7-5, 6-1, the result would be 29. These markets are exciting, as they keep things interesting for punters until the end of the match.
MATCH DISTANCE
This market allows tennis fans to predict the number of sets that will take place over the course of a match. There are three possible outcomes in a best-of-three match. The result will be 100 points if the match requires five sets, 50 points if the match is won in four sets and zero points if it is won in just three sets.
The quote before the match may be 33-38. If you expect it to be won in straight sets, you can sell at 33. You do not need to specify which player will win. It is simply a prediction on how quickly the match will be over. If you expect at least four sets, buy at 38. If you buy at 38 and the match ends in four sets, you will earn 12x your stake. If it goes to five sets, you will earn 62x your stake. However, if it is over in three sets, you lose 38x your stake.
MATCH SCORE (100 INDEX)
This is a correct score betting market. You can bet on a player to win 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2 in a best-of-five match, or 2-1 or 2-0 in a best-of-three match. There will be a quote on each potential result. There are two possible outcomes – 100 points will be awarded if the score is correct, and zero points will be awarded if there is any other score.
For example, we might offer 5.5-10.5 on Cameron Norrie to win 3-1. If you buy at 10.5, you will earn 89.5x your stake if he wins the match by three sets to one. However, if he wins 3-0 or 3-2, or if he loses the match, you will lose 10.5x your stake. You can cover multiple options if you like. For example, you might decide to buy on Norrie to win 3-1 and 3-2 in the same match.
NAME THE FINALISTS
Many tennis fans place long-term spread bets on which player will win a major tournament such as Wimbledon. However, you can often earn an even larger potential profit by naming the finalists. We offer quotes on a wide range of potential final pairings after the draw is made. There are two possible results – 100 points awarded if both players make the final, and zero points if only one of them makes the final or neither of them reach the final.
For example, you might find 40-45 on a Carlos Alcaraz vs. Novak Djokovic final, 25-29 on Daniil Medvedev vs. Djokovic, 20-24 on Alexander Zverev vs. Djokovic, 14-17 on Alcaraz vs. Jannick Sinner, 10 -13 on an Alcaraz vs. Casper Ruud final, 10-13 on Alcaraz vs. Andrey Rublev, 7-9 on Medvedev vs. Sinner and so on, all the way down to 0.5-2 on Andy Murray vs. Taylor Fritz. You can buy at the upper end on any final pairing that appeals, or you can sell at the lower end on any final pairing that you do not expect to occur.
