Fury vs Ngannou: Check Out Our Preview

HEAD-TO-HEAD BREAKDOWN: TYSON FURY VS. FRANCIS NGANNOU

World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury prepares to clash with former UFC heavyweight titleholder Francis Ngannou in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 28th. More than 15,000 fans will descend upon the Diriyah Arena to watch the eagerly anticipated boxing bout with the two pugilists set to fight over the standard 10 boxing rounds. The Gypsy King will be the overwhelming favourite coming into this contest while Ngannou, who will be making his boxing debut, will be priced as a heavy outsider in boxing spread betting markets. Join us below to discover the pairs' records and a complete breakdown of the upcoming brawl between the two fighters.

FURY ENTERTAINS EXHIBITION

Fury is no stranger to blockbuster fights and while the Manchurian still remains undefeated, with a list of potential opponents knocking on the door, the 35-year-old has agreed to fight mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou in a non-title bout. This came as a surprise to many but the match-up makes more sense than originally touted.

Fury, who is considered by many as the best boxer of his generation, had negotiations break down with Anthony Joshua over the last few years and seems hellbent on getting back into the four walls of death. Ngannou presents a new challenge and is considered to have the hardest punch on the planet, this will only add fire to Fury's belly.

Ngannou found himself in this position after turning down a contract renewal that would have made him the highest-paid fighter in UFC history - opting to pursue his boxing career. Subsequently, Ngannou was forced to vacate his heavyweight strap and focus on securing a fight with boxing royalty Tyson Fury.

FIGHTERS BREAKDOWN

Both men have exceptional records and have been figureheads in their respective sports. Ngannou (20-3-3 MMA record) last competed in January 2022, when he threw down the gauntlet retaining his UFC heavyweight championship with a unanimous-decision victory over Ciryl Gane. Ngannou was 6-0-0 in the UFC franchise during his burgeoning career before losing to Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis. He bounced back by beating Curtis Blades, Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Stipe Miocic and Ciryl Gane, which saw the Cameroonian claim the heavyweight strap before negotiations broke down on the renewal of Ngannou's contract.

Meanwhile, the Gyspy King bested Derek Chisora in a one-sided battle last December with the ref calling the fight in the 10th round and owns an eye-popping (33-0-1, 24 KOs) record and has no plan to populate his loss column. The Gypsy King's first 24 fights all took place on British soil. He won all of them before heading to Germany to face his toughest test to date, Wladimir Klitschko in 2015. The Brit sent shockwaves through the boxing world as he pulled off a shock victory that saw him claim the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles.

Fury was then forced to relinquish his belts after taking a three-year hiatus to battle his personal demons before returning in 2018. Fury emerged back on the scene with two low-key fights - beating Sefer Seferi in Manchester and Francesco Pianeta in Belfast. The Brit then travelled to Los Angeles to go toe-to-toe with the undefeated Denontay Wilder in December 2018 which ended in a controversial draw. He followed it up with a clash with Germany's Tom Schwarz and Otto Wallace in Las Vegas winning both bouts. The next instalment of Fury¿s comeback was a clash with Wilder again - which had no controversy whatsoever - as Fury secured a seventh-round TKO victory. The pair renewed hostilities in October 2021 with the Gypsy King concluding the trilogy via an 11th-round knockout.
