Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 30.04.2024

Andrew heads to the Flat meetings at Brighton and Catterick for his three recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, April 30th.
BRIGHTON 3.35
FEN TIGER blasted off into the headwind at Doncaster on his reappearance last month and it was no surprise to see him weaken into a 23-length ninth of 11. That effort is safely ignored and Julia Feilden’s six-year-old can be supported in this 1m4f handicap. He signed off last year with a neck second over course and distance on good ground can usually be relied upon to run his race in low-grade handicaps, recording form figures in Class 6 company, when returned to the track within 90 days of his previous outing, of 442573121215782 (3-15), improving to 311215 (3-6) on good to soft or softer going.
CATTERICK 6.20
SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH usually runs well in the spring when the mud is flying and, though only fourth over 1m4f here last week, was unsuited by the steady early gallop and had to wait an age for a clear run after getting hemmed in on the rail. His four runs in the spring (March to May) on soft or heavy going after a recent run (within three weeks) have produced form figures of 3114 and today’s big field and likely strong pace scenario will suit. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back SUGARPIEHONEYBUNCH in Catterick 6.20
CATTERICK 8.25
TRILBY scored with more in hand than the half-length margin suggested over course and distance on his reappearance and can be forgiven his fifth place at Pontefract next time as he tried to come late from his wide draw on a day low-drawn pace horses dominated. The 5f trip was on the sharp side too. He bounced back with a comfortable 6f Haydock win last Saturday and can follow up, despite his jockey’s inexperience. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back TRILBY in Catterick 8.25
Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
