Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 24.01.2024

Andrew heads to Catterick and Kempton (AW) for his two recommended bets/trades on Wednesday, January 24th.
CATTERICK 1.20
DOC MCCOY was beaten by over 16 lengths into fourth place when the 11-10 favourite for a 2m3.5f Catterick novices’ hurdle last time but that race worked out extremely well, with the first three home – Bugsie Seagull, Here Comes Georgie and Get Your Back – all winning at the next time of asking, as well Desert Quest, pulled up when 50-1 for that race. Jamie Snowden’s son of Getaway won well at Huntingdon on his reappearance and it’s possible that his Catterick run, just 25 days later, came too soon. He’s been given two months to get over that and connections clearly didn’t blame the sharp left-handed track as he returns to Catterick today for another 2m3.5f novice contest. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back DOC MCCOY in Catterick 1.20
KEMPTON 5.30
ECCENTRIC can follow in the hoof prints of stablemate Amiwithani and become another winning Jamie Osborne-trained handicap debutant. The aforementioned Amiwithani’s victory here on Monday took his trainer’s record with handicap debutants, since 2017, to 24 winners from 171 runners (13.6%) for a profit of £135.10 to a £1 level stake at SP. Eccentric has plenty of experience of this track, running over 6f here on his first two starts with the second effort – a staying-on 50-1 fifth – especially eyecatching. The ‘dead’ rail route didn’t help when down the field in an all-weather sprint at Lingfield last time and the step up to 1m, return to Kempton and application of first-time blinkers suggest that bigger and better things are expected today. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds prince.
Recommendation: Back ECCENTRIC in Kempton 5.30
Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
