Andrew heads to Southwell (AW) and the Exeter for a trio of recommended bets/trades on Thursday, December 19th…
SOUTHWELL 11.30
LINE OF FORCE changed hands for 28,000gns after his modest fourth in Listed company for Karl Burke at Ripon in late August and looks set to go well in this Class 5 novice contest on his debut for in-form Joseph Parr, despite being ridden by a 7lb claimer. The 115-day break will have done him good and his record fresh (first two runs each season or when rested for at least five weeks) read 112 (2-3) with the defeat by Soldier’s Heart who is now rated 105. The switch to the all-weather could also help the son of Calyx as his sire’s juveniles are 17 from 64 (26.6% strike-rate) on synthetics in Britain/Ireland for a huge profit of £121.02 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 9.99, A/E = 1.70). His new trainer has a respectable record at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards and Line Of Force can be bought at 21 in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Back LINE OF FORCE in Southwell 11.30
EXETER 1.20
Proform’s class par speed figure for this 2m junior “national hunt” hurdle is 60 yet the four horses with prior experience have failed to clock a figure higher than 50, suggesting that the Jane Williams-trained newcomer LE SOLEIL REVE could be the bet. The three-year-old’s trainer is in fantastic form, scoring with five of her last 11 runners (including a double at Newbury yesterday) and the soft ground is unlikely to be an issue. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (5-1 at the time of writing).
Recommendation: Back LE SOLEIL REVE in Exeter 1.20
EXETER 3.40
MOORLAND RAMBLER, another Jane Williams inmate, looks a solid play in this 2m5.5f handicap hurdle for amateur riders. The six-year-old has scored just once from 16 starts but six of those came over fences, which he simply didn’t take to (form figures of 445P74). He reverted to hurdles with a staying-on second over 2m2.5f here last time, to take his course record over timber to 312 (1-3), and the step back up in trip will suit. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (100-30).
Recommendation: Back MOORLAND RAMBLER in Exeter 3.407
