Andrew heads to the Flat action Hamilton, Chepstow and Epsom for his three recommended bets/trades on Thursday, July 18th.
HAMILTON 2.50
The Jim Goldie-trained GLOBAL HUMOR could only finish fifth of the seven runners at Ayr on Monday of this week but was only beaten by two and a half lengths and the cut back to a stiff 6f won’t be an issue. The veteran has a solid record in handicaps after a very recent outing (within five days), recording form figures of 1161615 (4-7) for a profit of £9.88 to a £1 level stake at SP. I like his draw in stall 1 (the centre of the track has usually been the place to be in Hamilton sprints this term) and he should get a solid pace to chase courtesy of Mr Trevor and Warminster. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back GLOBAL HUMOR in Hamilton 2.50
CHEPSTOW 3.35
Pace angle POST RIDER won twice over 1m at Brighton/Nottingham before struggling to see out a stiff 1m2f at Newmarket and could be hard to catch now returned to her optimum trip. Paul & Oliver Cole’s three-year-old went off too hard at HQ, setting it up for the closers (the pair that beat her sat last and second last in the early stages). The ground might be a shade slower than she prefers but she’s likely to be first across to the stands’ side rail and her rivals will have to be at the top of their game at get past her. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back POST RIDER in Chepstow 3.35
EPSOM 8.05
At the time of writing MISS INFORMATION was priced up at around the 15-8 mark for this 7f handicap on the strength of her comfortable Chepstow apprentice handicap win just six days ago. She escapes a penalty for that success and is 8lb well in as a result but the switch from a straight course to a left-handed one is far from certain to suit. Her only other win came over a straight 7f at Ascot when taking advantage of a strong rail bias and she bombed out at Epsom the only time she’s been asked to negotiate bends. The time of that Chepstow win was slow (she has the seventh best last time out speed figure according to Proform) and she’s likely to face stiff competition for the lead time. Sell in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Oppose MISS INFORMATION in Epsom 8.05
Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
