Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 14.03.2024

Andrew found Champion Chase winner CAPTAIN GUINNESS (17-2) on Wednesday and has three recommended bets/trades at Cheltenham on Thursday (March 14th).
CHELTENHAM 1.30
The Turners looks a cracker this year, with 11 runners due to line up for this Grade 1 novices’ chase. The big field and likely strong pace will aid the cause of Dan Skelton’s GREY DAWNING, who is my idea of a future Cheltenham Gold Cup winner. The seven-year-old tasted defeat on his hurdles and chase debuts but his record under other conditions stands at 11111F121 (7-9). The runner-up effort came at the hands of one of today’s rivals – likely pace angle Ginny’s Destiny – but he was desperately unlucky that day, making a bad mistake at the second-last fence and recovering to get within three-quarters of a length of the winner. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price. Ginny’s Destiny again looks the biggest danger to Grey Dawning and I’ll be playing the pair in a reversed forecast with Sporting Index.
Recommendation: Back GREY DAWNING in Cheltenham 1.30
CHELTENHAM 2.10
Dan Skelton proved that he’s the master of Cheltenham Festival handicap hurdles when Langer Dan won a second Coral Cup on Wednesday, taking his record in these races to six winners from 47 runners for a profit of £60.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those aged five or older are six from 36 for a profit of £71.50. LE MILOS, winner of the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase off a mark of 146 at Newbury back in November 2022, can run off a 4lb lower mark and looks to have been laid out for this. Buy in the Sporting Index 50-30-20-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back LE MILOS in Cheltenham 2.10
CHELTENHAM JOCKEYS
HARRY COBDEN has a good book of rides at Cheltenham on Thursday, commencing with GINNY’S DESTINY, given a positive mention above, in the Turners. Paul Nicholls’ eight-year-old bears a striking resemblance to his stablemate Stage Stage, successful front the front in this race 12 months ago. MONMIRAL didn’t take to fences but has a five from ten record over hurdles and could pick up minor honours in the Pertemps Final (2.10). The aforementioned STAGE STAR had excuses when pulled up here on New Year’s Day and can go well under forcing tactics in the Ryanair (2.50). Cleeve Hurdle winner NOBLE YEATS has much more on his plate in the Stayers Hurdle (3.30) but can pick up points, while the Richard Bandey-trained THEATRE MAN, who found only Ginny’s Destiny too good over track and trip on Trials Day, has obvious claims in the Plate (4.10). Buy in the Sporting Index CHELTENHAM JOCKEYS Market.
Recommendation: Buy HARRY COBDEN in Cheltenham Jockeys
Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
