MY PROSPERO could prove vulnerable on very fast ground after a break of 286 days and the bet in this Class 2 conditions contest is HAUNTED DREAM, who looks a shade over-priced after his 17^th of 20 when just 7-1 for the John Smith’s Cup at York last month. That run is safely ignored, as the five-year-old had a poor draw in stall 20 of 20 (once adjusted for the non-runners) and the race, run in a fast time, is already working out well. The poorly-drawn eighth – Take Heart (stall 17) – reversed the form with the winner (Enfjaar) when the pair ran one-two in the opener at Goodwood on Tuesday and the faster ground will suit. Buy at 17 in the Sporting Index 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price (9-2).

GOODWOOD 5.20

Ralph Beckett’s handicappers have been in fine form at Goodwood this week – Al Anoud took the 1m2f fillies’ handicap on Wednesday and he saddled a one-two in the 7f nursery yesterday with Mr Chaplin and Original Outlaw. NEW CHELSEA had proved largely disappointing until landing a 1m novice contest on fast ground at Windsor last time and the handicapper has left him on a mark of 84. The son of New Bay takes a big step up in trip to 1m3f, but he’s bred to appreciate it and his yard won this race 12 months ago. He clocked a fast time for that Windsor success – he has the best last time out speed figure according to Proform’s ratings and he rates a buy at 13 in the Sporting Index 48.2-28.9-19.3-9.6 market (7-1 in the fixed odds betting).
