Andrew Mount's Racing Tips 01.11.24

Andrew bids to get the new month off to a flyer with two recommended bets/trades at Wetherby and Newmarket on Friday, November 1st.
WETHERBY JOCKEYS
HARRY SKELTON is adept at finding the quickest part of the track at Wetherby, especially on the hurdles course where he often challenges very wide, and he has a good book of rides at the Yorkshire venue this afternoon. Backing all his mounts here – whether over hurdles, fences or in national hunt flat races – would have found 73 winners from 233 bets (31.3% strike-rate) for a profit of £3.49 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 60.63, A/E = 1.20). Siding only with those who started in the first three in the betting would have found 70 winners from 180 bets (38.9%) for a profit of £34.99. Stable debutant KART D’ESTRUVAL, a winner in France on his latest start, currently heads the betting for the opening novices’ hurdle (12.45) and is likely to prove hard to beat, while WEST BALOA will improve for last month’s chase debut at Worcester and looks the obvious one in the 1.15. DENZIL is a bigger price in the 2.25 but he won his sole start – a Stratford bumper – in very comfortable fashion and is no forlorn hope in the Listed Wensleydale Juvenile Hurdle (2.25). MIDNIGHT RIVER was a faller in the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase when we last saw him 335 days ago and his run in the 2m3.5f handicap chase (3.00) smacks of a prep for the same race at Newbury later this month. However, form figures immediately following a defeat of 31113713111F (7-12) suggest that he could pick up points. QUEEN’S VENTURE, odds-on for the 3.35, is another with obvious claims, as is hurdle debutant GLOBAL ECLIPSE in the finale 4.10. Buy Skelton in the Sporting Index WETHERBY JOCKEYS market.
Recommendation: Buy HARRY SKELTON in Wetherby Jockeys
NEWMARKET 2.52
The consistent BUY THE DIP looks an ideal buy in the Sporting Index 50-30-20-10 market for this 1m Class 5 handicap, a race that would look more in-keeping at Yarmouth or Southwell than Newmarket. Jim Boyle’s son of New Bay, like many of his sire’s progeny, tends to hold his form well and his last-time-out Brighton third took his record in handicaps, without headgear, to 3721533321642114333 (3-19). We have to go back to his reappearance effort at Kempton on April 1st – a 28-1 sixth of 13 (hampered) – to find the last incidence of him finishing out of the frame and he’s been freshened up since Brighton and his stable is in good form.
Recommendation: Back BUY THE DIP in Newmarket 2.52
Please note that the picks recommended in this blog post are based on past performance and should not be considered a guarantee for future winning outcomes, and it is important to remember that spread betting carries a high level of risk to your capital and can result in losses larger than your initial stake/deposit.
